After a few years away, we are back!!! Join us on Monday, December 2nd for The Orchard Project’s star-studded gala — A TASTE OF SOMETHING NEW — to celebrate and support the creation of new work by the most exciting voices working today. There is so much to celebrate right now, from Orchard Project Performance Lab alumni projects premiering at BAM and Theatre for a New Audience this fall to OP artists working on Broadway and beyond to our new and burgeoning partnership with Sony Pictures. We hope you will be able to join us at the event to help us celebrate our honorees and support The Orchard Project’s annual programs, which annually provide nearly 100+ artists and 40+ projects with vital time and space to focus on their most important work.

Our Inspiration Award for 2024 will honor the great playwright and Orchard Project alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Branden’s play An Octoroon was written in residence with The Orchard Project in 2012, and 2024 marks the ten-year anniversary of this show’s production at Soho Rep.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is a Brooklyn-based writer. His plays include Appropriate, The Comeuppance, Everybody, Gloria, An Octoroon, and Neighbors. He currently teaches at Yale University and serves as Vice President of the Dramatists Guild council and on the boards of Soho Rep, Park Avenue Armory, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and the Dramatists Guild Foundation. Recent Honors include a 2024 Tony Award, the 2023 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, a USA Artists fellowship, a Guggenheim fellowship, the MacArthur fellowship, the Windham-Campbell Prize for Drama, and the inaugural Tennessee Williams Award.

Branden’s plays are a terrific example of the work that The Orchard Project supports; the highest caliber of boundary-pushing art, whether in the form of live performance, episodic television, or audio storytelling.

A TASTE OF SOMETHING NEW celebrates the unparalleled work and community of The Orchard Project — those who are creating new work for stage, screen, and more — with a custom tasting menu and and evening of spectacular entertainment. Tickets and tables are now on sale at this link here, and if you have any questions, please email Madison Pollack at madison@orchardproject.com.

The Orchard Project is a leading American institution committed to supporting the most innovative artists and companies from the US and around the world in the creation of new bold new work. The Orchard Project identifies and promotes new and established voices, and has propelled over 500 ideas to production in ten years. It is not a traditional theatre company with regular seasons of productions; instead, it is constantly striving to adapt to the artists and projects it looks to accelerate. The Orchard Project’s programs and initiatives push the industry and the theatrical form, as well as building diverse audiences and educating young members of the theater community.
