In June 2020, as a reaction to the massive hold placed on live performance, convenings, and in person collaboration, the Orchard Project launched a new lab called the Liveness Lab. This lab, with 200 participants, served to interrogate questions of "liveness," community, performance, and impact for creators of theatre, dance, and other live performance. Over 8 weeks, the lab convened panelists, breakout sessions, working groups and more as its members investigated how to make work not only during the height of the COVID pandemic, but how it might shift for years after. Work that was initiated in the lab, from digital performance to VR to letter writing plays, has been performed in numerous ways since, and members of the lab are leading the investigation into new forms.

Join members of the lab as they reconvene after a year to share learnings from the last year and from the lab, and open conversations about where new live performance is headed post 2021.
