This May, join The Orchard Project for a weekend of entertainment and celebrating new work! Enjoy a weekend of exciting new theatre on Broadway and beyond with the OP team and other creatives who, like all of us in the Orchard Project community, are inspired by all things new.

We’re always trying to connect our home and community in Saratoga to the theatre produced in New York City; to bridge that gap, we have curated a weekend of shows for our friends upstate to see with us. There is so much inspiring new theatre by both OP alum and other artists in New York this spring, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Our current itinerary is as follows:

  • Stereophonic by David Adjmi @ The Golden Theatre [Friday, 5/17: 7pm]: An intense, intimate story of a rock band in the midst of making it big while trying to record an album, facing the perils that success oddly seems to throw musicians into. Featuring songs by Arcade Fire’s Will Butler.
  • Appropriate by Branden Jacob-Jenkins @ The Belasco Theatre [Saturday, 5/18: 2pm]: Jacob-Jenkin’s play introduces us to the lives of a seemingly typical American family struggling to grieve whilst their closeted skeletons begin to reveal themselves in this dark, comedic drama. Plus, Branden is an OP alum!
  • The Welkin by Lucy Kirkwood @ Atlantic Theater Company[Saturday, 5/18: 8pm]: Lucy Kirkwood’s gripping, witty drama exploring societal tensions regarding democracy and gender in 1750’s rural England
  • The Outsiders by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine @ Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre [Sunday, 5/19: 3pm]: Rapp, along with OP Alum Justin Levine and folk duo, Jamestown Revival, have brilliantly adapted S.E. Hinton’s influential novel with the same name, bringing the Greasers vs. Socs’ iconic rivalry to the musical stage!

In addition to the fantastic new shows listed above, we invite you to join The Orchard Project afterward for a cabaret celebrating our alumni and their accomplishments in musical theatre. The Sound of Something New will take place at 7:00 PM on May 19th at Green Room 42 in midtown NYC to honor select Orchard Project artists and share some of the work they’ve created in residency with us.

We have created three tiers of show combinations that you can attend, pending your availability:

  • Tier 1: Appropriate, The Welkin, and The Outsiders
  • Tier 2: Appropriate, The Welkin, The Outsiders, and one add-on of Stereophonic or Sound of Something New
  • Tier 3: Appropriate, The Welkin, The Outsiders, and both add-ons of Stereophonic and Sound of Something New

Pricing for packages of tickets for this weekend starts at $315 per person. For information about the trip and how you can partake, please email Madison Pollack, Artistic and Development Liaison, at adls@orchardproject.com or call 646 760 6767 x 150.

Priority will be given to established donors to The Orchard Project (and their friends and family).
